Following on from a shock Ferrari move, Red Bull controversy and a shock but impressive debut from F2 driver Ollie Bearman, the 2024/25 driver market is shaping up to be one of the most volatile in recent years
With more than half the grids contracts up at the conclusion of the season let’s have a look at where I think everyone might shake out.
Some of these are a bit crazy but I wanted to have fun with it, so I hope you enjoy !!
Haas - Ollie Bearman + Logan Sargeant.
Off the back of a promising F2 Campaign and an impressive last-minute F1 debut, I think Bearman will get the call-up to F1. Haas makes sense due to his and the team's Ferrari links. I then think Sargeant will be kicked from Williams but due to his American draw will be a good fit for Haas.
Alpine - Esteban Ocon + Nico Hulkenberg.
Esteban is firmly rooted in the Alpine team and I don’t see any improved seats opening up for him. Hulkenberg has shown promise in the Haas and with his Renault stint I think a trusted pair of hands could be useful to rebuild the team.
Williams - Mick Schumacher + Kimi Antonelli.
Two newbies in the Williams, Mick as the Mercedes reserve shows how he is wanted back on the grid so the Mercedes customer team is the perfect fit, along with rookie Antonelli where I believe he will wait, before moving up to Mercedes
RB - Liam Lawson + Pierre Gasly.
After proving himself in a few races last season Lawson will likely be on the grid in 2025 and RB makes the most sense. What perhaps doesn’t and is maybe my most controversial take is Gasly's return to the outfit which truly I don’t know I just feel it in my bones… I also think with Alpine on the ropes this may just be a more positive environment.
Sauber (Audi) - Alex Albon + Carlos Sainz.
I feel with stake becoming Audi it’s a more promising place for Albon to grow, along with Sainz who is currently out of a seat and already rumoured to be joining from 2026
Red Bull - Max Verstappen + Daniel Ricciardo.
Verstappen is a no-brainer, but I think Ricciardo will put in enough of a performance to justify the team No.2 role - this could even be a mid-season swap
Mclaren - Oscar Piastri + Lando Norris.
No change with both drivers locked in for the long-term
Aston Martin - Felipie Drugovich + Yuki Tsunoda.
In a complete shakeup for Aston Martin, I believe the team's WEC project gives the perfect exit for Stroll opening the opportunity for f2 champion Drugovich. As well as this with links to new engine provider Honda I believe Tsunoda will make the switch to the team
Mercedes - Fernando Alonso + George Russel.
Russel will likely be at the team long term, and I believe Alonso is going to replace Hamilton due to his wealth of experience, His stint at the team also allows good time for Antonelli to develop and learn before moving into the team upon Alonso's departure
Ferrari - Charles Leclerc + Lewis Hamilton.
This is confirmed in the biggest shock maybe… ever, i truly still can’t believe it and just CANT WAIT to see how it plays out !!
